can we validate the form input ??

Hi ,

I have a created a simple form search.Can i validate the input given by the user..Say like if he entered the wrong input ..can i alert him "Please Give Correct Input "" ..Can i do this in form ??

Alteast Can i display my default message instead the one which is showing now i.e no results found inspect..instead of that message..can i show "No Records Found .Please enter another input" ..
