Why does PiplineDataInput complain about an invalid signature?

What do these errors mean? Are they SSL releated?

3	These errors were appearing in splunkd.log on a forwarder They stopped when the sendCookedData=false setting was removed from outputs.conf on a LightForwarder. link answered 05 Feb '10, 19:34 Jaci ♦ 872●2●2●17 accept rate: 75%
