How to automatically install and configure splunk installation in ubuntu

I would like to be able to pull down the installer, install it, configure it (add a udp-raw port) and start it up all programatically without interaction.

A lot of people are using things like puppet for this purpose. There isn't a way to natively do this built into the product as it stands presently.
