Refine your search:

Hi,

I was just wondering if the Splunk User Account actually needed interactive login capabilities.

Currently, at least for splunk-4.1.6-89596 for Linux, I see the following:

splunk:x:511:513:Splunk Server:/opt/splunk:/bin/bash

Can this be set to the following instead?:

splunk:x:511:513:Splunk Server:/opt/splunk:/bin/nologin

Would this disrupt functionality in anyway? Or has this possibly been addressed for Splunk 4.2?

Can someone confirm for me?

Thanks for your help.

Brian
