Refine your search:

Hello,

I'm still trying to get my head around the back end of the new licensing. I'm upgrading about 500 LWFs to 4.2.1. I see how I can convert over to a forwarder license in the GUI, but I'm not sure what changes in the background. Is there a file I'm missing or can this be done via the CLI? I'm not finding anything in the docs so far. I see some mention of forwarder licensing in the Universal Forwarder, but it was confusing.

Your help is appreciated!

One Answer:

Yes. You just create a server.conf file (not necessarily in etc/system/local, but possibly in an app directory, with the usual config file merging/precedence rules) containing:

[license]
active_group = Forwarder

A Universal Forwarder doesn't need this as that is the default, and it can't run as anything else anyway.
