I installed Splunk on Win2k8 R2 and enabled the universal forwarder. Then splunkd would NOT function properly.

Should I install the universal forwarder into the Splunk server per se??

The only way I will be able to use Splunk is to NOT enable the universal forwarder...

We are only monitoring a few servers, so we've started with Enterprise and will later change to Free.

Thank you, Tom

One Answer:

The universal forwarder is a separate executable; you do not enable it from full Spunk.
