Why are "Include PDF version of results" and "schedule for PDF delivery..." greyed out?

"Include PDF version of results" in the saved searches and "Schedule for PDF delivery..." are both greyed out when "Use PDF Report Server" is not checked in Manager » System settings » Email alert settings.

There are two scenarios when it would be greyed out:

Once you check "Use PDF Report Server" in Email alert settings, Splunk admin and power users, who are able to schedule alerts will have the capability to check and will not be greyed out. Those who do not have role with the abiliy to schedule alert will have these options greyed out.
Only dashboard has "schedule for PDF delivery" enabled. Others such as flastimeline is greyed out as it is waiting for search input. If you add autoRun="true" in your view to run some report, then it will display enabled.

I have the "Schedule for PDF delivery..." option for Search's Dashboard view but not for any other views (i.e. Search's flashtimeline view). Any idea why?
