I've taken a look at other threads here including http://answers.splunk.com/questions/2442/pdf-app-an-error-occurred-while-generating-a-pdf-of-this-report-didnt-receive, however, I am still having a somewhat similar issue.

I have the PDFserver set on a machine and the http://server.company.com:8000/en-US/debug/pdf page, shows that everything is working, however, when I schedule a short search for mail delivery, I keep getting the error: An error occurred while generating a PDF of this report: Didn't receive PDF from Report Server

I've changed the timeout settings to longer times, up to 10 minutes, and still the same results.

Also, trying to generate a mail from a remote server, gives the same error, but I can't get the debug/pdf page to work either on them, even though connectivity is fine.

Thanks!

Did you check $SPLUNK_HOME/var/log/splunk/python.log for any errors?

Yes, in fact I am often tailing it to see what happens. The 2 errors I get now are: ERROR An error occurred while generating a PDF of this report: Didn't receive PDF from Report Server and ERROR Didn't receive PDF from Report Server I'm at a point now where I can get a pdf from the actual server, but I get the errors when I try from any other server. I've set the time out higher, too, but still no luck. Any direction I should look in? Thanks!
